Yes I know, 'bikepacking' sounds like one of those annoying generation z terms for something that always existed and has just been rebranded into a 'thing'. Like swimming outdoors suddenly becoming wild swimming, or just buggering about in the woods is now 'forest bathing'. To be honest I didn't even know I was actually bikepacking until I got back and told a friend what I had been doing. I didn't think too much about it really, just got together my standard lightweight hiking gear, chucked it into a dry bag along with a few allen keys and puncture repair kit and strapped it to the back of my bike. Apparently this is a thing and it's called bikepacking, although to do it properly you're meant to buy loads of expensive bikepacking bags which make you look really cool and feel great about yourself.
